Located on Japan’s northern-most island prefecture, Hokkaido, Niseko is a splendid year-round 2 hour transfer via car, bus or rail from New Chitose International Airport (CTS). New Chitose is Hokkaido’s main domestic and international airport which receives a multitude of international and domestic flights daily, ensuring there are plenty of options. The closest major town to Niseko Resort is Kutchan.
Below are different options for you to choose from when going to Niseko.
1. Private Airport Transfer – includes a door to door service with a driver which will meet you at the airport for the utmost convenience and comfort. (recommended)
(please note that to be able to drive legally in Japan, you need a valid international driver’s license issued by a signatory of the 1949 Geneva convention and a valid drivers license issued in your country)
(bus transfer bookings start from late September, if you plan on choosing this option, please book as early as possible.)
4. JR Hokkaido Train – This is the main public transport from the airport to Niseko. Most locals use this option to travel to the city. Train travel is usually longer and you may need to transfer trains in Sapporo or Otaru. Train tickets are not available for reservation, guests will have to purchase the train tickets at the New Chitose airport train terminal upon arrival. Please ensure to get off at the KUTCHAN STATION.
From there, a local taxi to Hirafu is available outside the Kutchan train station.
